Important Information \u2013 The Great Mine of Serbariu \u2013 and specifically the Lampisteria building, home to the Coal Museum \u2013 is undergoing major renovations during 2024\/26. Access and visit<\/p>\n

Access and ticket office<\/strong> – the ticket office has been temporarily moved to the Auditorium building (between PAS Palaeontological Museum and Sotacarbo S.p.A.building).<\/p>\n

Visitors are recommended to check the correct location on Google Maps (search: Museo del Carbone)<\/p>\n

Visit<\/strong> – the underground guided tour is unchanged. The Winch Room is currently not accessible. The Lampisteria will remain closed until the end of the renovation works, therefore the museum exhibition cannot be visited; a selection of items is on display in the museum’s temporary location. Books and souvenirs can also be purchased at the ticket office.<\/p>\n

Comfortable clothing and sports shoes are recommended. For the outdoor it is recommended to have suitable accessories according to the season.<\/p>\n

Pets are not allowed.<\/p>\n

VISIT<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Great Mine of Serbariu is currently undergoing major renovation works, so the tour route has undergone temporary changes.<\/p>\n

As part of your visit, you will take a guided tour of the underground areas<\/strong>; the tour lasts about an hour and can be booked in Italian, English and French. The Winch Room is not open to visitors at the moment.<\/p>\n

The Lampisteria will remain closed until the end of the renovation works, therefore the museum exhibition cannot be visited; a selection of items is on display in the museum\u2019s temporary location.<\/p>\n

Please note: The underground route is partially accessible to disabled visitors, who are entitled to free admission. At the moment it may not be possible to guarantee complete accessibility to the underground route, due to the works in progress. Please contact the Museum at +39.0781.62727 to check the possibility.<\/p>\n

Tips for visiting<\/em>: the visit includes indoor, outdoor and underground areas We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and sports shoes, or even hiking shoes.<\/p>\n

N.B. Please note that the museum is not equipped with a cloakroom, therefore visitors are asked to keep their coats, bags, backpacks with them during the visit. For the same reason, the museum does not provide a luggage storage service for suitcases and other travel bags, which are not allowed<\/u> inside during the visit.<\/p>\n

GROUPS AND SCHOOL GROUPS <\/span><\/h2>\n

The museum is available for visits all year round, with advance reservation and according to the museum opening hours. Guided tours last about an hour.<\/p>\n

Different tours are available according to the specific level of education (primary, middle or high schools, universities, specialist schools), as well as workshops and specific educational activities in collaboration with the schools.<\/p>\n
